    Business Challenge

    The client was running more than 50 MuleSoft applications on CloudHub. Anypoint licensing was tied to reserved vCores, so the bill stayed flat whether applications were busy or idle. Most integrations ran at low to moderate volume, leaving the business paying for capacity that sat unused for much of the day. With renewal approaching, the fixed-cost model was becoming hard to justify.

    Solution Overview

    DIATOZ migrated the integration estate to Azure Integration Services and reworked always-on Mule flows into event-driven services. Service Bus and Event Grid handle messaging and routing, Logic Apps runs orchestration and scheduling, Azure Functions covers custom logic and DataWeave-style transformations, and API Management provides the gateway layer. The new model lets costs follow message and execution volume instead of reserved middleware capacity.

    Architecture & Engineering

    Reviewed all 50+ apps and grouped them by behavior: simple pass-throughs, scheduled batches, request/reply APIs, and complex orchestration flows
    Rebuilt messaging on Azure Service Bus queues and topics, with Event Grid routing events between services
    Ported Mule flows to Logic Apps for orchestration, scheduling, and integration sequencing
    Rewrote DataWeave transforms as Azure Functions where mapping logic did not translate cleanly to Logic Apps expressions
    Placed Azure API Management in front for authentication, throttling, versioning, and a managed replacement for Anypoint API Manager
    Used dead-letter queues, retries, idempotent consumers, and replay-safe processing to prevent duplicate work during failures
